Last Friday, Sophie and I were invited along to the Milton Club in Manchester to try out one of their cocktail making masterclasses. What better way to spend your Friday night? We arrived early and were greeted by the friendly staff at the Milton who took our coats and showed us to the bar, which was beautiful. It isn’t somewhere I had ever been to before, so having the chance to try out something new was great. To be honest, I’d heard it was pretty exclusive and occasionally has some very famous customers I was a little intimidated but being there, was actually really nice. The staff were all so friendly, and our bartender for the evening, Ibrahim, offered us a glass of prosecco on arrival and was very chatty and made us feel welcome. Once everyone else had arrived, Ibrahim asked us what our favourite types of drinks were and gave a little information on the fine art of cocktail making. There’s actually a lot more to it than just mixing drinks. There’s actually a whole science behind it… finding the right blends and balancing the right amount of sweet and sour.
Chasing a cocktail to make was probably the hardest part of the evening as everything on the menu looked delicious. After trying a couple of shots, and seeing a demonstration of how our chosen cocktails were made, it was our turn to get behind the bar and make our cocktails ourselves. I nailed this as it brought me back to my bartending days back in my early twenties. It was so much fun and getting to try different drinks and make them yourself is the perfect way to spend a night out with your friends. 
If you’re looking for a different way to spend an evening with your friends, I would definitely recommend trying out a Cocktail Masterclass. Whether it’s for your birthday, hen do or even just fancy learning how to make your favourite drinks, I’d give it a go. I had a great time at the Milton Club. It’s a fabulous place. The setting is beautiful and the staff are super friendly, plus they have some amazing acts on.
